Differing thumprints, so no MyKad

The National Registration Department's 'flexible' manners over immigrant's applications for MyKads should be lengthened to genuine Sabahans.
TAMPARULI: Francis Sopoyut, 48, has been creation a headlines of late for a oddest reason. For a past 10 years he has been trying, despite unsuccessfully, to shift his aged Identity Card (IC) to a brand new MyKad.
The complaint is with his ride prints. One of a ride prints upon his aged IC does not match a imitation from his ride as well as this has been reason sufficient for a National Registration Department (NRD) to literally put him upon reason for a decade.
Many people are asking how this bizarre anomaly could have cropped up.
Former Tamparuli assemblyman Edward Linggu suspects which when Sopoyut was processing his aged IC during a age of 12, another person's fingerprint could have been someway printed upon his duplicate form by mistake.
Tamparuli falls under a Tuaran parliamentary subdivision as well as Linggu is a divisional chairman of a rising antithesis State Reform Party (STAR).
Said Linggu: "The alternative possibility which Francis' fingerprint may have altered given a last 36 years is not acceptable.
"It is a systematic fact which fingerprints are singular for every particular as well as they do not shift for life."
The hapless Sopoyut, who comes from Kampung Napitas, Tenghilan, near here, has left by a distress of red tapes.
"I was asked to board a police inform which we had mislaid my IC. we complied since we longed for to get his brand new IC fast but, until now, zero has happened.
"I have all a papers though sti! ll they could not routine it since of my fingerprint," he said.
He pronounced this caused him a lot of problems, together with opening bank accounts as well as managing his children's schooling.
"I have been watchful for so prolonged as well as we am right away during a loss. we do not know what to do anymore," he said.
But Linggu believes a total complaint can simply be solved if a NRD was just a small bit more creative.
"With sufficient witnesses documented by statutory declarations, as well as openness in a perspective of a NRD, a total thing can be resolved quickly.
"The complaint is a NRD is bogged down with red tape as well as can never action outside a box, " he said.
But strangely enough, a NRD seems stretchable with a bootleg immigrants.
"But strangely it is most easier to give MyKads to bootleg immigrants who do not even have any request whatsoever.
"This speaks volumes about a government's long-hailed aphorism of 'Bersih, Cekap dan Amanah'," pronounced Linggu.
