Dengan kos yang begitu tinggi, kolej atau Universiti swasta akan terjejas teruk jika PTPTN dihapuskan kerana pelajar-pelajar mereka yang majoritinya terdiri dari bukan M! elayu, a mat bergantung kepada dana ini untuk melanjutkan pelajaran. Oleh itu, PTPTN adalah satu-satunya opsyen terbaik bagi pelajar-pelajar ini mendapatkan bantuan kewangan.
