Improper for KDM Malaysia to handle scholarships

KOTA KINABALU: A gauge by the director-general of the Higher Learning Department, Prof Dr Rujhan Mustafa, to channel grant applications through politically-linked KDM Malaysia organisation has come under conflict from the opposition State Reform Party (STAR).
Describing the gauge as "totally improper", the party's emissary authority Daniel Jambun said it was "shocking" which the high-ranking supervision central could be "so loose with the rules of supervision protocol".
"I simply cannot hold which the supposedly apolitical as good as the non-governmental organisation (NGO) has unexpected been asked to be an agent of the sovereign government.
"And when was KDM Malaysia strictly appointed as an agent of the Higher Education Department?" Jambun asked in the matter today.
Rujhan yesterday appealed to school leavers "especially from the KDM community" to give their names as good as sum to KDM Malaysia boss Peter Anthony "so which it would be forwarded to me".
Jambun questioned the rationale behind the instruction, observant which it seemed to be the little sort of the collusion between the Higher Learning Department, Umno as good as KDM Malaysia.
He additionally wondered if the applications would be approved if they have been done through KDM Malaysia, as good as if so, wouldn't which meant which KDM Malaysia is being used by Umno for greedy politics.

"If Rujhan is sincere about helping the people to benefit scholarship, why doesn't he encourage all NGOs in Sabah to be channels of the grant applications?
"Why singular out KDM Malaysia? Why not additionally designate the more determined NGOs such as the Borneo Heritage Foundation (BHF), the KDCA, the Sabah Murut Association (PMS), the Sabah Momogun Rungus Association (SAMORA), the United Sabah Bajau Organisation (USBO), the Persatuan Anak Negeri Sabah (PANSA) as good as the lot of other NGOs?" he asked.
