Batu MP Tian Chua wants movement taken opposite MPs for disregard of Parliament.
KUALA LUMPUR: Batu MP Tian Chua wants the parliamentary cabinet to examine allegations that Pakatan Rakyat MPs were unpleasant to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during final week's designation ceremony.
"I have sent the minute to Parliament Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia to call for the parliamentary cabinet to examine as well as punish [MPs] for disregard of council under Section 80A, Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders," Tian Chua said
Also present during the press conference were Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzzah Anwar (PKR) as well as Kota Raja MP Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud (PAS).
Section 80A provides for movement to be taken opposite parliamentarians or any alternative people who are deemed to have been in disregard of Parliament.
"The cabinet is similar to the court," Tian Chua pronounced upon the range of the committee.
Section 9 in Houses of Parliament (Privileges as well as Powers) Act 1952 provides for those found guilty of disregard to be fined not exceeding RM1,000.
Tian Chua justified his call for environment up the cabinet as the allegation has shop-worn his repute as the MP.
Blogger Dr Rahman Kadir, in his blog posting, had purported that the Pakatan MPs had been shouting away during the coronation.
Many pro-Barisan Nasional bloggers as well as the media picked up upon the report.
MP to sue
Tian Chua additionally pronounced that no official investigations have been conducted yet.
He added that there had been precedents for the arrangement of such committees.
