Report lodged on Malaysia's 'most expensive road'



PKR-linked crime watchdog Jingga thirteen lodged a report currently with a Sabah office of a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), over probable crime in a construction of "Malaysia's many expensive widen of road".

The government has approved a RM40mil allocation for a road upgrading project in the Kadamaian state constituency, to begin in 2013.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the first phase of the project would involve six roads.

They are Jalan Melangkap-Piasau-Gaur (RM25mil), Jalan Tengkurus-Lahanas (RM5mil), Jalan Kaung-Lobong-Lobong (RM2.5mil), Jalan Tuguson (RM2.5mil), Jalan Tintapon (RM2.5mil) and Jalan Tokulung (RM2mil).

The project was actually planned for 2014, but the government has asked the rural and regional development ministry to bring it forward to next year, as infrastructure, especially in Sabah and Sarawak, is a priority.

He announced the road upgrading project to about 10,000 local residents at a meet-the-people session and presentation of 1Malaysia People's Assistance (BR1M) at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Narinang.

The Deputy Prime Minister also announced a RM6mil allocation to upgrade various infrastructure and basic facilities in the district; RM5mil for the rehabilitation of schools around Kota Belud; RM500,000 to upgrade Masjid Pangkalan Abai and SMK Narinang; and a RM10,000 grant each to a number of organisations in the area.

Meanwhile, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman urged the people to continue supporting the Barisan Nasional (BN) based on its good track record in administering the country.

He also reminded BN component members to serve the people well: As they have been chosen by the people, therefore it must not be regarded as a privilege but a responsibility.
