SHAH ALAM -- Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar advised a organisers of a Bersih public planned during Dataran Merdeka upon August thirty to not brew Merdeka Day celebrations with politics.
"Merdeka is a matter associated to a people. They'll be celebrating a country's 55th autonomy day, so don't have it a political issue.
"Whether we wish to gather or have a speech, there is a law for everything and we contingency follow a laws of a country," he said during a press conference after launching Ops Selamat, in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, during Dataran Shah Alam, here.
Ismail was asked to comment upon a planned entertainment which is approaching to be held during Dataran Merdeka upon August 30, to coincide with this year's Merdeka Day celebrations.
"If everybody follows a law a nation will remain peaceful," added.
