Ambiga a victim of race and religion, says Pak Samad

Today, as Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan's Bukit Damansara chateau is turned into abizarrecombination of a mini market, crime stage as well as conflict zone with pro- as well as anti-Ambiga groups taking their positions under a watchful eyes of a authorities outside her house, it is business as usual during a Bangsar Utama prosaic of her fellow co-chairperson A Samad Said.

Since a Bersih 3.0 criticism on Apr twenty-eight which organisers claimed saw a little 250,000 participants taking to a streets of Kuala Lumpur, anti-Bersih groups have taken their counter-protest to a doorstep of Ambiga's chateau with burger stalls, boundary exercises as well as now, a mini-market.

But for a 77-year-old A Samad, or more fondly known as Pak Samad, a situation during his chateau has been anything yet unusual, despite hischeekybaiting of a protesters during Ambiga's residence.

This tale of two Bersih chiefs, Pak Samad said, is expected because Ambiga is being targeted for her race, sacrament as well as to a little extent, gender; issues which have been often played up by a powers-that-be.

NONE"Ambiga should rightfully lead, she is a counsel with immeasurable experience, she has received various awards yet unfortunately, she is an Indian, a non-Muslim, which is unfortunate.

"If Ambiga was me, these threats targeting her would not have happened," he pronounced in an interview withMalaysiakinion Tuesday.

Adding which competition was innately a quarrelsome issue, he pronounced this is being m! anipulat ed as well as perpetrated by a powers-that-be with claims such as a position of Malays have been being threatened.

The national laureate combined which he, too, has faced accusations of a identical nature, yet not as serious as a nuisance faced by Ambiga.

'I'm already Malay, you wish to be Malaysian'

Among a accusations, he said, was which he has tricked his own competition by participating in a Bersih movement.

To say which you am not championing my race... There is no need to ask me to be Malay, you am already Malay, you wish to be Malaysian," he pronounced in his usual poetic tone.

The septuagenarian combined which he has also been marked down as senile, to which he said: "Then those who have invited me to speak, contingency be really ridiculous to invite a foolish aged male to talk."

NONE"I grow aged not to turn stupid, you grow aged to turn wiser," he added.

His age, combined Pak Samad, has authorised him to break free of being a "slave of power", which he described as a mainstream media when he was a journalist as well as editor.

"At which time, you worked in a newspapers, a menial of a powers-that-be. That time, you thought, you had young kids to caring for, a family to caring for.

"Because of that, you swallowed whatever bitterness there was for a consequence of my family... But now, you am rebuilt to be langgar (hit)," he said.

NONEPak Samad is perhaps a most distinguished literati in a electoral remodel movement, yet not all his well read colleagues share his activism, with a little frowning on his action.

"The well re! ad villa ge is utterly divided... it is not about a tag of literati, yet for people to decide either you wish to improve a democracy," he said.

Pak Samad combined which it was not his avocation to convince fellow literati to a cause, instead, it was up to them to ask their heart if they should join a movement.

"My avocation is merely to explain a state of a country, either you wish this to go on or you wish a change," he said.

By opting for a 'road not taken' by most others of his stature, a spotlight has fallen on Pak Samad, who has since been offered hold up guard protection.

"But you deserted (the bodyguards), during my age as well as this point of my life, even with tens of bodyguards, if my time has come, you will still die... you do not wish to be accompanied by bodyguards in reserve from my wife, which is fate, if it's time for death then it is death," he said.
