ALOR STAR: The formation of a steering cabinet by PAS which can even bury a menteri besar is unconstitutional, according to a Kedah Gerakan youth. The girl arch Tan Keng Liang warned which a cabinet would indirectly take over a powers of a current Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak.
"The state constitution does not allow this as well as a menteri besar appointment was consented by a Sultan of Kedah in suitability of a state constitution,'' he said.
"PAS should apply oneself a constitution as well as not form a body or row which would by-pass a duty of a menteri besar," said Tan in a statement.
He was referring to press reports upon a PAS steering cabinet which would have powers to bury any of Azizan's decisions.
The steering cabinet was among resolutions agreed to by Azizan, his arch-rival Pengkalan Kundor representative Phahrolrazi Zawawi as well as party's executive cabinet to finish a persisting energy struggle in Kedah PAS.
Phahrolrazi claimed which a cabinet was an ombudsman of sorts, though it had powers to veto a menteri besar's decision.
"If a steering cabinet finds a menteri besar has made a decision or decisions it deems as deviating from a party's agenda, it will veto him.
