DR. LUCAS Umbul, 52, will attain former UPKO Vice-President Datuk Maijol Mahap when a latter's term expires this December 9. The United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) emissary secretary-general was inaugurated by a Sabah Legislative Assembly recently. The appointment will commence on December 10.
A family man with four children Lucas Umbul looks back to a hard childhood beset by poverty. He struggled hard to strike many obstacles as well as managed topursued tertiary preparation in a United States.
"I come from a bad family vital in Kg. Melalap Tenom. My father upheld away when I was 2 years old. My mother took care of us as well as she worked as a rubber tapper," he said.
Previously, he was a lecturer during a Teacher Training Institute in Keningau. He opted for early early retirement to go into politics.
Dr. Lucas, who is of Murut decent grew up in Tenom. He pronounced he will make use of a opportunity as a senator to help a people of Sabah, particularly those in a interior areas.
"I can do a lot for a community. I wish to ensure that a people of all ethnic groups especially in rural areas good from all supervision policies," he pronounced to reporters outward a Dewan after a Sstate Aass! embly ad journed yesterday. (Insight Sabah)
