Minister of Defence Dato' Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's programmed revisit to the Layang Layang atolls tomorrow with Malaysian media for some 'rest as well as recreation' at the resort island had to be cancelled final minute. Zahid's revisit was programmed to expose Malaysian media upon the beauty of the single of regional's many cherished sport diving spot, along visitation to the Malaysian armed forces detachment stationed upon the island. The island is partial of Malaysian sovereignty.
It was believed that China was "Uneasy" with Defence Minister's revisit to the islands.
The visit, although organised by ATM as well as would be flown into the airstrip upon TUDM's C130Hs, is not troops in nature. There is no troops practice will be conducted by any of ATM's services in decoration with this visit. Nor there will not be any armed troops assets maneuvre programmed in the area. Therefore, the protest from China should be deliberate as 'diplomatically unbecoming' to stop the Malaysian Cabinet Minister making the recreational trip to islands that have been as well as had always been partial of Malaysian sovereignty.
In short, this should be deliberate as the 'diplomatic bully'.
