Dear Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim

I proposed this square by laying out your lane jot down to remind all of us which we have contributed immensely to a nation. However, which a singular slip, if we might be permitted to call it that, is starting to taint everything which we have done. Malaysians will never remember a 1,000 great things which we did. They will usually remember a a singular thing which we did, which they do not determine with.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Dear Tunku, in 1998, we helped found Transparency International-Malaysia, a local section of Transparency International (TI), as great as shortly after which we were elected a vice authority of TI's Board of Directors, a position we hold until Oct 2002.
No a singular can deny a purpose we played in fighting crime as great as in promoting great governance in a Middle East region, including propagating corporate governance, something severely lacking in Malaysia. Being a member of a Kedah Royal Family, which also links we to His Majesty a Agong, nonetheless we might be not which closely linked to a ruling family.
You served as a member of a World Bank High Level Advisory Group upon Anti-Corruption in a East Middle East as great as Pacific Region, a Middle East Pacific Advisory Panel upon Good Urban Governance, a Board of a International Institute of Public Ethics, as great as a United Nations Development Programme Advisory Panel for a 2002 Human Development Report.
From February 2006 to January 2007, you! served in New York as special advisor to a Secretary General of a United Nations, Kofi Annan. During your tenure, we set up a UN Ethics Office.
These have been positively most impressive certification by any standards as great as it is no wonder which DAP not usually longed for we as a member yet immediately app! ointed w e as a party Vice Chairman upon top of that.
I must admit, though, which we was utterly puzzled as to because we motionless in 2008 to become politically active. For 14 years we had fought for a same thing which we have been fighting for. And, usually similar to most of us, we chose to quarrel outward a political locus rsther than than inside of it. Then we went as great as became a politician.
Knowing your background as great as bargain how we think, we suspected which we might not have a political culture compulsory to become a great politician, nonetheless how a singular would conclude 'good' is another matter altogether.
My late father was innate in 1925. You were innate 9 years after in 1934. You studied in England, as did my father. You worked for a British multi-national, as did my father. And both we as great as my father have been not usually members of a stately family yet have been pre-Merdeka Malays -- where Malays of which era, especially those from a elite class as great as products of a British education, were some-more English than Englishmen.
Hence, whilst we do not know we which great -- we usually met we in 2008 -- we do know what my father was similar to as great as we do assimilate what finished Malays, in particular 'elite' Malays of which era, tick. And unless we am terribly wrong, we probably have a same heart as great as mind as my father. And because of which we have been positively not suited for a career in politics.
Please do not get me wrong, Tunku. My father hated Umno, nonetheless almost all his contemporaries assimilated Umno as great as became members of a brand new post-Merdeka supervision in 1957. There was frequency a singular corporate chief, senior polite servant, or political leader of which epoch who did not know my father. But he refused to join a supervision either as a polite servant or a politician. He usually did not believe in politics.
That did not meant he did not vote though. And he not usually v! oted yet he voted antithesis as well, Gerakan to be precise. But which was usually because Gerakan was afterwards an antithesis party as great as a party of what he regarded as intellectuals from a mixed-racial background.
My father was already1Malaysiaand anti-Umno prolonged prior to a judgment became popular. Unfortunately, my father died in 1971 prior to he could retire or else we believe he might have even become politically active with a antithesis had he lived until retirement age, similar to we did, Tunku. Sometimes we consider it is maybe advantageous which he died in 1971 prior to he could see Gerakan join Barisan Nasional, which, we am sure, would have broken his heart.
My father was so proud which he voted Gerakan he would tell a total world which he did so, much to my mother's horror who would tell him to shush. He had tall hopes which a days of secular governing body had come to an end as great as which a future lies with multi-racial parties similar to Gerakan, which was headed by a total bunch of intellectuals.
And we suppose which is because we consider a approach we consider as great as do things which we do. My father's 'indoctrination' had a lasting affect upon me as great as finished me into what we am today, either which is a great or bad we unequivocally do not know.
Anyway, what we longed for to contend is: meaningful my father, as great as hence meaningful we as great -- unless we am wrong in my assessment -- it might be advantageous which we gracefully resign from DAP. Since what we stand for is not utterly what DAP also stands for, your graceful exit upon a bargain which we have concluded to disagree would meant we can still sojourn friends nonetheless we might not utterly share a same views.
I proposed this square by laying out your lane jot down to remind all of us which we have contributed immensely to a nation. However, which a singular slip, if we might be permitted to call it that, is starting to taint everything which we ! have don e. Malaysians will never! remembe r a 1,000 great things which we did. They will usually remember a a singular thing which we did, which they do not determine with.
The trouble with you, Tunku, is which we consider similar to an Englishman. Hence, if it is not cricket, as they contend in England, we will speak your mind. But in governing body we can't do that. You need to toe a party line. You have to do what is great for a party. And if we can't do this afterwards we have no commercial operation being in a party.
I trust what we contend will be taken in a suggestion it has been said. we positively meant no disrespect. The fact which we have drawn parallels between we as great as my father demonstrates a tremendous apply oneself we have for you. It is usually which a longer we sojourn in DAP a some-more they will demonise you. And for someone who has finished so much for a republic we unequivocally do not merit a things they have been observant about we or what they have been we do to you.
I do goal we can a singular day encounter again, maybe here in a UK, where we can shoot a zephyr as great as talk about a great old days when Malays as great as Malaysians in general were decent human beings who put a republic on top of self-interest.
Till we subsequent meet, Tunku, might salam to we as great as a family.
