Of converging interests and diverging methods

Yes, we substantially figured out what we am right away going to say. we scold you. we insult you. we abuse you. we call we stupid. we call we cowards. we am pompous towards you. we treat we similar to children. In short, we incite we as good as have we hatred me whilst hopefully we have we hatred yourself as well. More importantly, we have we consider with the hope which once we consider we will act.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
There is the Malay saying:tidur satu bantal, mimpi lain-lain. This translates to:sleeping upon the same sham though having separate dreams. This substantially most appropriate describes Pakatan Rakyat. They do share the usual seductiveness or objective, of course, though PKR, DAP as good as PAS might not quite share the same dreams.
Their usual seductiveness would be to replace Barisan Nasional as the federal government. Theirmimpi lain-lainwould be: PKR dreams of saying Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister, DAP of saying the Malaysian Malaysia where we have been no longer labelled according to ethnicity, whilst PAS dreams of saying the entire spectrum of Islamic laws implemented in Malaysia.
Now, there is nothing wrong with this, mind you. Even the PLO is the same. In the PLO there have been Islamists, Christians, Communists, Nationalists, anti-Zionists, Liberalists, Conservatists, Fundamentalists, as good as so on. The PLO, in fact, is the single mixed bag of causes nonetheless most Malays have the misconception which the PLO is the Muslim organization against to the Jews. Actually this is not so. Even the little Jews support the PLO. And Malays must stop meditative which the PLO is an Islamic cause. It is not. It is the territorial movement, the movement fighting for land.
The reverse of'tidur satu ! bantal, mimpi lain-lain'would substantially be'tidur lain bantal, mimpi yang sama'. This translates to: we sleep upon opposite pillows though share the same dream. Basically, this would mean we have concentration interests though have diverging methods in achieving the objectives.
And this substantially describes most of us -- the supporters for change, the reformists, the domestic activists, those of the polite society movements, the liberals, Bloggers, as good as not to be forgotten, readers ofMalaysia Today.
Most of us can't seem to assimilate this. Some of we have been well-educated, well-read, university students or graduates, lawyers, doctors, accountants, engineers, architects, or whatever, though we still can't grasp the fundamentals of what the quarrel for shift or reforms is all about. And which is why any time we express my views most of we scold as good as abuse me. Just since we might not be upon the same page we reply with hostility.
Life is not which simple. For example, Jews, Christians as good as Muslims hold in the same God, the One as good as Only God. No Jew, Christian or Muslim would brave contend which there have been 3 Gods. There is usually One God as good as which One God created the total of humankind.
If which is so afterwards why do we have Jews, Christians as good as Muslims, the people who hold in One God though have been widely separated in to 3 religions? On top of that, Jews, Christians as good as Muslims have been further widely separated in to assorted sects as good as branches. Hence, in reality, we actually have some-more than only 3 religions. Yet everybody believes in the same One God, not 20, 30 or 40 Gods. Does the actuality which the assorted sects or branches of Judaism, Christianity as good as Islam any follow the opposite trail mean they do not hold to the judgment of the One God for everyone?
Yes, whilst the interests might converge, we must accept the actuality which the methods might! diverge . And this diverging process does not mean we do not share the same interest. This is the single thing most of we can't seem to understand. And for which reason we reply with curses as good as ridicule me when we take the opposite march to yours. You have been of the opinion which since the interests intersect afterwards the methods should as well. You only can't accept the judgment of concentration interests as good as diverging methods.
we admit which my methods might not be palatable to most of you. So be it. Then stay out of my trail since we am really abrasive as good as erosive in the demeanour we address issues as good as we would not demur to mow down those who mount in my way. we am not the statesman nor the diplomat so we do not need to be tactful in the approach we do things or politically scold in what we say.
we am of the view which the elemental complaint we have been faced with is the approach we have been educated. Malaysia's preparation complement does not concede us to think, investigate as good as question. This is some-more prominent amongst the Malays who go to eremite classes before they even get sent to school. And the eremite preparation complement discourages us from questioning, researching, doubting, rebutting as good as opposing. We have been taught to merely catch what we have been taught similar to the sponge.
This is no opposite from Europe of up to about 200 years ago. From 1803 to 1814, for the period of about 11 years, Napoleon Bonaparte cowed roughly the total of Europe. And the single of the poignant events of France's occupation of Europe was, amongst others, to remodel the preparation system.
Prior to that, schools were run by the church as good as preparation was accessible to usually the chosen as good as nobility. Napoleon altered all this. He cut down the powers of the church, set up open schools, as good as done preparation open to all as good as sundry. One generation later, the center category of prepared Europea! ns emerg ed -- where in the past there was usually the tiny upper category as good as vast lower category -- which demanded change.
This triggered the revolutions of 1848. However, the revolutionaries usually had an ideology as good as aspiration as good as did not have an army. Hence, through troops action, all the revolutions were put down during the loss of most lives.
But the seed of reforms had been planted. Over the final 40 years of the 1800s, Europe saw change. But it would be the subsequent generation which saw this happen. Hence it took 4 generations from the First French Revolution of 1789 (there were 3 French Revolutions in all) which shift would eventually brush the total of Europe. That's right, FOUR generations -- from the late 1700s to the late 1800s. That's how long it took, 100 years.
Over 100 years or 4 generations from the late 1700s to the late 1800s, Europe saw the Age of Enlightenment, the Age of Romanticism, the Age of Nationalism, the Age of Unification, the Age of Revolutions, 'Springtime of the Peoples', the Industrial Revolution, the 'Hungry Forties', etc. That's right, so most things happened in only 100 years.
At the end of the day, it was preparation or the remodel of the preparation complement which completed this. The catalyst was education. And the height for this shift was the center category (what, today, we would call the 'middle ground': meaning you, the readers ofMalaysia Today). The vast center class, which was non-existent pre-1815, as good as which emerged as good as grew from 1815 to 1848, was the organisation which forced shift in Europe.
Now, can Malaysia means to see shift over 4 generations? We would similar to to see it occur now, not in the year 2100 during the great-great-grandchildren's time when all of us will no longer be around. The subsequent subject is: what must we do to educate Malaysians so which they climb as good as direct change, reduced of doing what Napoleon did in Europe from 1803 ! to 1814?
And this is where, whilst the interests might converge, the methods might diverge.
More importantly, we have we consider with the hope which once we consider we will act.
we do not have 100 years (anyway, we am already 62 so we might not even have twenty years). we can't do this over 100 years similar to what happened in Europe from the late 1700s to the late 1800s. we need to fast track the preparation process as good as bring it down from 100 years to only 10 years.
Malaysia Todayis already 8 years old whilst we am 62. So which gives me usually the few some-more years. Okay, maybe we still have 10 years to go. But 10 years would mean only dual some-more ubiquitous elections, the coming the single as good as the subsequent one. That is as well reduced the time. In Europe it took the homogeneous of twenty ubiquitous elections (based upon five years between ubiquitous elections).
Most of us have been victims of teaching as good as brainwashing. We only accept as good as have been scared of thinking, questioning, disagreeing, etc. But if we get indignant sufficient we would set in reserve 'norms' as good as go stubborn in to dissent.
And which is my job, to have we angry. And either we have been indignant with me, or whoever it might be, is not what concerns me. What concerns me is which we must be angry, even if it is with me, since annoy makes we want to do something. And once we have been angry, we can contend to we what Lee Iacocca's wife said to her husband: don't get mad, get even!
