Dataran Merdeka off-limits solely
FOR NATIONAL-LEVEL EVENTS: City Hall will not allow any form of protest or proof to be reason there
KUALA LUMPUR-ONLY national-level activities similar to Merdeka Day, Federal Territories Day as good as New Year's celebrations were allowed to be reason during Dataran Merdeka, pronounced City Hall mayor Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail.
It is the City Hall's process to ban any form of rallies or demonstrations from being reason during Dataran Merdeka because of the inhabitant as good as chronological significance.
In the matter yesterday, Ahmad Fuad pronounced it was for this reason which the application by Pertubuhan Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) to reason the public rally opposite lesbian, gay, bisexual as good as transvestite (LGBT) practices was rejected.
JMM programmed to reason the rally today.
Ahmad Fuad pronounced JMM president Azwanddin Hamzah sent the minute to him antiquated Apr 10 asking for the permission to reason the rally there.
"The minute was received upon Apr eleven as good as the application was incited down by City Hall emissary director-general (management) Datuk Normah Malik via the minute antiquated Apr 16," he said.
Ahmad Fuad pronounced such an activity was not suitable to be reason there.
"On the same day, the stately unison is to be reason in conjunction with the designation of the 14th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.
"All preparations for the unison have been made during Dataran Merdeka."
Azwanddin sent an interest privately upon Thursday, citing reasons because JMM's application should be considered.
"I met him as good as told him w! hich the application would not be deliberate as it is the process not to allow any form of assembly imitative the protest or proof from being reason during Dataran Merdeka which has chronological as good as inhabitant significance," Ahmad Fuad said.
"Its usage is dictated only for national-level celebrations."
The decision, Ahmad Fuad added, was additionally in line with the Local Government Bylaw (Dataran Merdeka, Federal Territory, Kuala Lumpur) 1997.
Azwanddin had pronounced they understood the concerns lifted by Ahmad Fuad over staging the assembly during Dataran Merdeka.
"We apply oneself the mayor's preference as good as admit which we have the sense of responsibility to highway users as good as businessmen who may be influenced by the actions," he pronounced upon Thursday.
