Defence minister's 'sexist joke' shocks activists


Women's right activists who were during Parliament House to debate for the clean supervision currently were repelled when Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi done the 'sexist joke'.

ahmad zahid hamidi"Can't feel the wife if (I) hold her with gloves(pakai sarung tangan pegang isteri nanti tak terasa)," was the remark Zahidi(left)allegedly made, when the activists gave him the span of white gloves to symbolize their direct for the corruption-free government.

An activist who overheard Zahid posted the remark rught away on the central Twitter webpage! ofWanita Suara Perubahan(Wanita Super MY), the bloc which is organising the campaign.

"Sexist!" commented Women's Aid Organisation senior manager executive Ivy Josiah through her Twitter account.

She had been in the delegation to Parliament House.

Contacted later, Ivy toldMalaysiakinithat her co-worker had heard and jotted down Zahid's remark, and then reported it on the Twitter page.

"Although he was joking, this kind of sexual play on words is unacceptable... this is officious rude. We were pretty shocked," she said.
