Azmi Khalid's PAC to tiptoe upon NFC
by Hazlan Zakaria@www.malaysiakini.com
Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will go upon a examine in to purported irregularities by a National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), despite a Dewan Rakyat speaker's ruling opposite discussions upon counts associated to ongoing justice cases.
"The orator has forbidden (debate) in a House upon justice cases only. If it doesn't hold upon a justice case, it is allowed," PAC chairperson Azmi Khalid (right) pronounced today.
He was referring to statements by orator Pandikar Amin Mulia multiform days ago, yesterday as well as again today, telling MPs to give up from discussing issues which hold upon cases in a courts, such as a NFC issue.
Azmi pronounced he would have to check a Hansard, which will be done available to a cabinet in a subsequent few days, to endorse a speaker's ruling.
Asked to criticism upon news reports which a orator had directly asked PAC to stop a examine in to NFC, Azmi pronounced it was not so. "We were advised to belong to a ruling done in a Dewan Rakyat As a PAC as well as a Dewan have been of a same stature, we should follow a decision," he said.
However, Azmi pronounced PAC could "tiptoe around a matter" by not in contact with upon specifics associated to justice cases to safeguard which open trust, as well as a duty to yield checks as well as balances, have been fulfilled. "This is government money, passed by Parliament. PAC has a duty to monitor as well as demeanour in to such matters," Azmi added.
Earlier today, Kamaruddin Jaafar (PAS-Tumpat) who is also a PAC member had raised a matter in a House pertainig to name committees, similar to a one newly set up for a Lynas Advance Materials Plant in Gebeng Kuantan! , with r eference to a standing sequence disallowing discussions in a House or name committees which may hold upon ongoing justice cases.
Pandikar informed him of a Dewan Rakyat ruling opposite such discourse, as well as combined which a same ruling relates to a PAC which is also an accessory of a Dewan Rakyat.
"Same as in NFC, when we heard there were discussions similar to that, we called a chairperson, we told him my mount which a cabinet is an extension of a House, whatever discussed contingency abide by Dewan Rakyat rulings when residing, which is they cannot plead upon counts which have been subjudice.
"If they discuss, they should not hold upon a counts (on justice cases)," a Speaker said.
