A 5.3-magnitude earthquake rattled a northern tip of Indonesia Monday, geologists said, though there were no immediate reports of damage.
The upheaval struck during a shallow depth of one kilometer around 160 kilometers southeast of Banda Aceh on Indonesia's Sumatra island during 2:09 a.m., a US Geological Survey said.
Aceh range is often hit by earthquakes as well as was ravaged by a 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.
Indonesia sits on a Pacific "Ring of Fire," where a meeting of continental plates causes clever seismic wake up including earthquakes as well as volcanic eruptions.
