Emotions run high as slain police commandos body arrives home

BESUT, March 2 Emotions ran high when a remains of Insp Zulkifli Mamat, a single of dual military commandos killed in a shootout with armed unfamiliar intruders in Lahad Datu yesterday, were brought to a family home here today.

Family members, neighbours as well as 29-year-old Zulkiflis acquaintances, who had waited patiently during his mothers residence in Kampung Kubang Ikan near here, burst into tears when a coffin arrived during 4pm.

Earlier, a physique had arrived during a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) airbase in Subang from Tawau, prior to it was flown in a special moody to a RMAF airbase in Gong Kedak, Terengganu during 3.15pm.

Present during a RMAF airbase were Sultan of Terengganu Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim, state military arch Datuk Jamshah Mustapa as well as Kelantan military arch Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman.

Also present were Mara chairman Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, a budding ministers religious adviser Datuk Seri Dr Abdullah Md Zin as well as other senior military officers.

The physique was taken to a RMAF Main Hall to capacitate Tuanku Mizan to compensate his last respects.

Meanwhile, about 200 people attended a prayers which were held during Zulkiflis house, while more than 2,000 people incited up to compensate their last respects.

Zulkiflis remains were taken to a Tembila Muslim tomb in Kampung Gong Bayor for burial during 5pm.

He is survived by widow, Noraziah Noor, as well as dual sons aged four as well as one. Bernama
