KUCHING: Trusty Ruhi from Mukah is twelve years aged as well as she has a bona fide bieing born certificate. However, when her parents, oil palm workman Minggang Puja, 38, as well as housewife Mary Ekin, 31, brought her to a National Registration Department (NRD) to apply for her MyKad, they were shown a door.
Frustrated, Minggang, Mary, Trusty, their seven-year-old son Edwin Nyuntai as well as Trusty's uncle Siba Bunsu came to The Borneo Post's bureau here recently, to air their grievances.
But it's not all NRD's fault. In fact, they longed for to help, though there have been procedures to follow.
"In principle, as long as a single of Trusty's relatives is a Malaysian, Trusty is entitled to a MyKad, though not automatically because you also need her parents' matrimony certificate," pronounced a NRD orator when contacted yesterday.
The complaint in Trusty's box is her relatives could not furnish their matrimony certificate. In addition, Mary conjunction has a bieing born obligation nor MyKad.
Asked how Trusty, who studies at SK Sungai Penipah Mukah, got her bieing born obligation in a initial place, a NRD orator explained: "Anybody who is innate in Malaysia is entitled to a bieing born certificate." Siba claimed which when they went to a NRD to get Trusty her MyKad, a officers instead asked Mary to fill 'Borang B', which is a citizenship form.
"What you fright is which if Mary submitted Borang B, it means she is not a citizen, though a foreigner! .
"Secondly, you fright which her children's duplicate for MyKad might be deserted once Mary is deemed a foreigner," argued Siba, who flew in from Bintulu whilst a others trafficked from Mukah.
He insisted which Mary is a Malaysian, though a NRD can't accept this because she conjunction has a bieing born obligation nor a MyKad.
Siba, who is a headman at Batu 25, Jalan Bintulu Miri, claimed which Mary had longed for to apply for her MyKad via late registration in 2010 though was asked to apply for her bieing born obligation first.
"This is all very confusing. On a single hand, a section of a NRD assured us which there was no complaint in getting Trusty a Mykad whilst an additional asked Mary to apply for citizenship first!"
The family was pronounced to be upset also when they were not allowed to see a state NRD executive to get his clarifications as well as explanations upon a whole issue.
Siba pronounced he hoped NRD would assistance Minggang's family because without Mykad, Mary, Trusty as well as Edwin would be treated with colour as aliens.
The NRD orator remarked: "We have been many peaceful to assistance a family.
In fact, you have already sent a letter to their Mukah residence upon Sept 18 as you do not have their telephone hit number.
"As Mary's nationality is in dispute, there have been dual ways to go about it.
If Mary refuses to fill Borang B, then she must furnish a matrimony certificate.
Then you can ensue with Trusty's application.
"The second option is which Mary has no choice though to fill in Borang B to apply for citizenship, then NRD can ensue with Trusty's application.".
Sh! e pronou nced in Trusty's case, a fastest her duplicate would get authorized was six months as such a box would come under a reach of a Ministry of Home Affairs.
She believed there was a tall possibility which Trusty's duplicate would be approved.
"This box points to a fact which it is critical to register here if a Malaysian is to marry a immigrant or re-register if they have already purebred overseas."
She pronounced NRD would never try to have anybody's life difficult though they had certain procedures to follow.
As both NRD as well as The Borneo Post could not hit Minggang's family, members of a public who know them have been urged to inform them to go to a nearest NRD bureau to seek serve report with regards to Trusty's case. (BP)
