Pandelela urged not to accept Sarawak CM's gift



Swiss Human Rights group Bruno Manser Fund (BMF) has urged Sarawakian Olympic medallist Pandelela Rinong Pamg not to accept any rewards from Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud, citing concerns of "political manipulation".

"We call on Pandelela not to let herself be politically manipulated as well as suggest her to kindly spin down Taib's 'special gift'," read BMF's statement yesterday.

The arch apportion had reportedly promised the present before long after she had won thebronze medalat the Women's 10-metre diving event on Aug 10, making her the initial Malaysian womanlike Olympic medallist.

NONEWithout disclosing the nature of the gift, Taib (right) was quoted saying that he would reward her after he had met her.
Pandelela eportedly arrived during Kuching International Airport progressing today.

"Taib has abused his political energy as well as done some-more mistreat to Sarawak's indigenous peoples than any other Malaysian politician.

"He lacks the dignified legitimacy to have the special present to an outstanding Bidayuh champion similar to Pandelela," BMF pronounced in the statement today, pointing to allegations that Taib had presumably abused his energy by grantinglogging concessionsto his family members, who collectively are also stakeholders in a little 400 companies.

BMF has played the major purpose in highlighting Taib's alleged wrongdoings, together with the on top of allegations.

"I! t is fea red that Taib is formulation to abuse Pandelela's Olympic success to boost his own shrinking popularity.

"The only present Pandelela should accept from Taib is his resignation as arch minister, that would be the service to the whole of Sarawak." the NGO added.
