My adventures in Lombok : Part 1 - Climbing the mountain

.The Monyets as well as Yaks (MY) organisation usually got back home from Lombok. We were there to stand Mt. Rinjani, a 2nd tip towering as well as a tip volcano in Indonesia. Standing during 3726 m, Mt Rinjani is slightly reduce than a Mt Kinabalu though it is really a lot some-more challenging. [BTW, Monyets as well as Yaks organisation is a non-profit entity which goes movement as as well as when Monyet King pleases. Most of a organisation members have been relatively unfit, slow-moving, fun-loving greedy tortises. Rinjani was a 2nd major trek. The primary major mass departure was to a Everest Base Camp in Mar 2011 - we can review which story here].

14 of us went upon this trip. 6 ladies and8 guys (we even had a guy from Myanmar !!). Mostly amateurs, many not really fit lah. But it was a fun fun group. As we have said in my prior movement articles, a tour is some-more important than a destination. For a tour to be enjoyable, a association we keep is vital. we had good company.

Mt Rinjani seen from somewhere a Lombok airport. The rise usually above a clouds. To go to Lombok, we have to fly possibly via Jakarta, Singapore or Bali.[Or we could float from Kuantan - which competence takes we 3 years if a jellyfish don't get to we first]

MY organisation carrying breakfast prior to staring a trek. We had nasi goreng as well as banana pancake with kopi Lombok. On a extreme left is Datuk Khalid Yunus, a President of a Kembara Ou! tdoor Ce ntre.

We rode upon a pick-up lorry from a board during Kg. Sembalun to a starting point of a trek. Looking some-more like pendatang tanpa izin.

Monyet King leading a troop. The primary stretch of a mass departure passes by paddy fields as well as grassland. It was really hot.. Note a mountains in a background.

Posing lagi. Note a mist in a background. The landscape is savannah-like in a primary half of a trek.

Porters carrying their loads up a mountain. Unlike a porters in Kinabalu as well as a Everest segment who lift their loads upon their back, a porters in Lombok make use of a pole (kandar/gandar) to lift their stuff. They have been paid about RM 40 per day. Very really really really formidable work.

The lake during a Crate! r Rim wa s gorgeous. But to strech here we had to stand for almost 9 hours, over high terrain. Two of a hills which we climbed were aptly declared Bukit Keseksaan as well as Bukit Penyesalan.

MY teams chilling out at3300m. The guy second from left is Ahmad Fakri aka Manai who was a friend as well as guide. Manai is one of a usually 2 Malaysians to have cowed a 7 summits. Read my progressing articles about Manai here as well as here.
MY organisation about 300m from a summit. It is s! till an additional 2 hours of tough rock climbing from here.
Ravi as well as Azmi upon a final (and a toughest) leg to a summit. Just 300m as well as it took 2 hours. They were out of water as well as steam - though thanks to Pak Firman who encouraged them, they done it to a peak.
Ravi (right) as well as Azmi (left) - a two who done it to a top. 3726m. The hardest day of their lifes. In a centre is Pak Firham, one of a guides. Firman has been rock climbing a towering given he was 12.

Monyet King as well as JayLi upon a Crater Rim during sunrise. Pretty pic! ture, is n't it?
The Rinjani limit - seen from a Crater Rim basecamp. Although lower, this towering is really some-more formidable than Kinabalu. The mass departure is really slipperly since it is done up of mostly lax gravel as well as sand.
Another view of a stay site during a Crater Rim. Gorgeous views though really really windy. The void lake is upon a right.

A large organisation of macaques came to a campsite during a Crater Rim. we guess they came to pay homage to a King. we gave them some pineapple as well as Maggi mee.

Having Mamee perisa Kari Berapi during a Crater Rim usually prior to descending. Instant noodles have never tasted better. Kari berapi selected out of respect for a Gunung Berapi.

The Monyets as well as Yaks organisation loves holding up banners as well as flags. Photo fire prior to descending from a Crater Rim.

Our campsite during Pos 3 reduce down a mountain. Elevation circa 1700m. Two persons to a tent. We had to organize a blueprint of a tents so which all a snorers were not in a same place - differently a noise would have been as well shrill as well as shock a furious animals away.

Our crew cooking breakfast upon a final day. We essentially had good food along a trek. The toast as well as omelette were awesome.!

Bukit Keseksaan which we had to stand upon Day 1. This is a standard landscape for many tools of a reduce mountain.

Monyet King poking JayLi with his light saber. Well, one has to do something to say reason along a trek.

Back to Kg. Sembalun. End of trek. Photo fire with a guides as well as porters. we told we which a organisation loves holding up banners as well as flags.

It was a smashing journey- good landscape, beautiful views as well as illusory company. As we have said it many times before, when we go trekking, a tour is some-more important than a destination. You must learn to suffer a journey. Enjoy any others' company, take time to smell a roses, make stupid jokes, laugh during everyone, chill. If we strech to a limit of a mountain, it is a bonus.

Monyets as well as Yaks - we guys ROCK. (p.s. some of we fell upon rocks too).

p.s. many photos b! y Sathya . The rest stolen from others MY organisation members.
