Stop sending quack teachers to Chinese schools


The training standards in Chinese first schools have been underneath hazard even as a Education Ministry continues to send them under-qualified teachers.
KUCHING: The federal supervision should stop sending non-Chinese literate teachers who have "not even passed UPSR-level Chinese subjects" to learn in Chinese first schools in Sarawak.
According to Sibu MP Wong Ho Leng, sending non-Chinese competent teachers to these schools will seriously start a training standards in a state.
"I am given to understand that twenty-nine headmasters, 39 assistant headmasters as well as 287 teachers who do not have Chinese education have been sent to offer in Chinese first schools in Sarawak.
"Most of these teachers did not even pass UPSR's Chinese subjects.
"This cannot be right. The supervision contingency safeguard that headmasters who have been sent to offer in Chinese first schools contingency pass a Chinese theme in SPM.
"With headmasters as well as teachers not knowing Chinese, it is no wonder that we have received visit complaints that a little headmasters had been troublesome students from taking Chinese subjects, or even if they do, not to lay for exams for fright that they will lift down a propagandize results.
"This has become a serious problem in most schools in Sarawak as well as a preparation ministry contingency look into it to right a wrong to a Chinese community, " pronounced Wong who is also state DAP chairman.
Debating a stately residence in Parliament, he pronounced that a current use was "not gainful to educational development" as well as unacceptable to a Chinese village at large.
"The use of ! sending teachers but Chinese gift to Chinese first schools will severely start a training standards as well as administration department of these schools, "
"It is not gainful to educational development, especially when it is well accepted that Chinese schools contribute tremendously to national development.
"The actuality that there have been 355 teachers who have been non-Chinese competent have been training in Chinese schools means that there is a necessity of this series of training staff in Sarawak.
"The supervision should rectify this incident immediately," he said.
UEC, because no approval?
Alluding to a needs of a Chinese village in Sarawak, Wong pronounced that it was time that a supervision realised that 222 of a 1,294 Chinese first schools in a country where situated in Sarawak.
"I hold it is only satisfactory for Sarawakians to direct that 20% of preparation allocations be supposing to Chinese first schools in Sarawak," he said.
While he welcomed a government's decision to recognize education from 146 universities from China, he questioned a hesitance to authorize a Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) issued here.
"This is good news. But we want to know because a goverment is not recognising a Unified Examination Certificates (UEC) that is recognized by a universities in China for a role of adminission into university?" he asked.
