Despite a Perak mufti's matter which Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's visit to a Thaipusam jubilee during Batu Caves is against Islamic teaching, Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali currently tried to justify Najib's action, saying it might be an effort to combine a people.
"According to a understanding of a little people, Thaipusam is a eremite celebration, a same as Wesak Day as well as Christmas. I was told which Muslims cannot attend because it contravenes theaqidahandsyariah.
"But a prime minister's assemblage during Batu Caves should be seen in a context which he wanted to be seen as a premier who pays attention to all races," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
Elaborating, he said may be Najib attended a jubilee with a intention of bringing a "torch of unity".
"Maybe he didn't have time to deliberate eremite views. If he did, he might give his observation," he added.
The Independent MP for Pasir Mas afterwards took a potshot during PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat whom he claimed also attended eremite events in Buddhist temples.
"If you ask PAS, they will contend he is priesthood (in a temples)... When Nik Aziz does it, it is right, but when Najib does it, it is wrong," he said.
