The Attorney-General's Chambers has filed an interest opposite the Kuala Lumpur High Court preference in acquitting Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim upon the charge of sodomising his former aide.

The notice of interest was filed in the Criminal Registry of the Kuala Lumpur High Court during 4.30pm today. This was confirmed by Deputy Registrar Halilah Suboh.

High Court decider Zabidin Mohd Diah had upon Jan 9 found Anwar not guilty of sodomising his 23-year-old former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. Justice Zabidin in acquitting the 64-year-old de facto PKR personality as well as Permatang Pauh MP, cast doubton the DNA justification supposing by the prosecution.

Saiful yesterday posted an ardent defence as well as sent an official letter to Gani urging the A-G's Chambers to record an interest upon the Sodomy II case in order to preserve his dignity as well as honour.

Yesterday's response was the follow-up, after Saiful had upon Jan 9 tweeted, upon learning of Anwar's acquittal, which if he did not get probity in this world, he would find it in the hereafter.

Anwar had been charged, under Section 377B of the Penal Code, with sodomising Saiful during the Desa Damansara common ownership in between 3.01pm as well as 4.30pm upon June 26, 2008. A sum of 26 charge as well as seven defence witnesses, including Anwar, had testified in the trial.

Anwar's lawyer Sankara Nair (left) pronounced in the statement this evening which he had not been formally notified of the interest by the prosecution.

"However, if it is true, afterwards it is most regrettable as well as inhuman given which the hearing decider has settled succinctly, in his verdict, which the consequential justification could have been 'tampered' with.
