MCLM chief barred from entering Sabah

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) president Haris Ibrahim has been barred from entering Sabah as well as was sent behind to Kuala Lumpur upon a subsequent available flight.

Contacted by FMT prior to his departure, a lawyer pronounced he had landed at a Kota Kinabalu airfield at about 3.15pm.

"I have just been told which 'atas arahan atasan' (orders from! a highe r authority), we have been denied entry. we am still at a immigration awaiting details," he said.

Asked if he was there for MCLM-related activities, Haris pronounced which a movement had some work with domestic parties as well as NGOs in Sabah.

Haris, who was formerly attached to choosing watchdog Bersih 2.0, was also denied entrance into Sarawak twice in Apr during a state choosing as well as September this year.

It is believed which he was stopped from entering Sarawak under a identical law.

Under a Malaysia Agreement, Sarawak as well as Sabah have a power to club anyone from entering a states, including persons from Peninsular Malaysia.
