PWD goes silent upon overpriced

More than a month after allegations of irregularities surfaced over the

Shah Alam Hospital project, a Public Works Department (PWD) has

yet to reply to a questions raised.

Last month, Malaysiakini reported source-based claims which a contract

was awarded underneath debatable resources as well as during an arrogant cost of

about RM500 million to Sunshine Fleet Sdn Bhd, a association owned by

a part of of a Selangor royalty.

The association has allegedly been skimming off plan supports for 'advances'

and 'expenses', as well as also stands accused of harassing companies it had

engaged as sub-contra! ctors. we t has refused comment, saying which queries

should be destined to PWD which 'owns' a project.

Megat Khas, when contacted, said, "If there is any spirit of crime or
abuse of power, afterwards a MACC must step in to investigate. If any fraud
is seen, a police must step in.

"We cannot compromise in our fight against crime as well as alternative criminal
acts of a financial nature, irrespective of a personalities involved. Nobody
is on top of a law."

The 300-bed hospital is slated to open in November.
