Khaled: Local unis missing THE 400 research criterion

Universiti Malaya's softened display was not enough to get it onto a prestigious list.

KUALA LUMPUR, October 10 Local universities did not feature in a new Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings as they lacked a investigate imagination needed for a placing, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin explained today.

"We know which if you participated, you will not even have it into a Times tip 400 university rankings since you are new, you need to wait for until our investigate really matured," Khaled was quoted by Bernama Online today.

"It's not which you have been assessed and disqualified... [but] our elements of investigate are just as well young and juvenile [to have a list]."

Times' World University Rankings is a grades a world's tip 400 universities.

The California Institute of Technology or Caltech secured tip spot in this year's rankings, followed by Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Princeton.

The World University Rankings first appeared as a supplement in The Times of London, are now published by a Times Higher Education magazine.

The weekly is regarded as a UK's heading higher education publication.
