Daulat Tuanku, DYMM Sultan Kedah Darul Aman

The Sultan of Kedah, DYMM Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, will offer as a 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for five years from Dec 13, apropos a usually woman monarch to offer as a King of Malaysia for a second time.

The special assembly of a Conference of Rulers currently which inaugurated Sultan Abdul Halim, 83, also inaugurated a Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, as a next Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, said a matter released by a Prime Minister's Office.

The Kedah woman monarch had served as a Yang di-Pertuan Agong from Sep 21, 1970, to Sep 20, 1975.

DYMM Sultan Abdul Halim, who is right away Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, will succeed DYMM Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, a Sultan of Terengganu who completes his term of office as a 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in Dec this year.

DYMM Sultan Abdul Halim, who was born on November 28, 1927, during Istana Anak Bukit in Alor Setar, ascended a Kedah throne on Jul 14, 1958, following a genocide of his father, DYMM Sultan Badlishah. He graduated from Wadham College, University of Oxford, in a Unit! ed Kingd om, with a degree in social science as well as public administration. He joined a Kedah Civil Service in a 1950s.
