1 NOV Masih belum terlambat rasanya untuk mencoretkan artikel ini, walaupun telah dua minggu peristiwa ini berlalu, kesan dan luka masih lagi kuat dihati.

Oktober 13, 2011 adalah tarikh yang menyedihkan bagi saya. Kehilangan seorang sahabat yang telah rapat seperti ahli keluarga kita sendiri bukanlah satu perkara yang mudah untuk dihadapi.

Pada tarikh tersebut, sewaktu sedang bersarapan pagi, saya menerima panggilan yang mengejutkan dari seorang teman. Kebiasaannya, teman tersebut jarang menelefon di awal pagi, tergerak juga dihati memikirkan bahawa pasti ada berita yang penting.

Jangkaan tepat, panggilan tersebut memberitahu bahawa sahabat baik kami, Kharis Idris yang terkenal dengan nama Tuan Senang Besar (TSB) di dunia Facebook dan Twitter baru sahaja meninggal dunia.

Kharis diberitakan terjatuh ketika sedang berjogging dan disyaki terkena serangan jantung.

Terkejut saya apabila mendengar berita tersebut. Apatah lagi saya baru sahaja berberapa hari sebelumnya bersarapan pagi bersama Kharis dan keluarganya di sebuah restoran di Shah Alam, Selangor.

Tak sangka pula bahawa itu adalah sarapan pagi terakhir bersamanya.

Tanpa membuang masa saya terus ke tempat yang dikatakan Kharis terjatuh ketika sedang berjogging iaitu di stadium Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) di Kelana Jaya.

Sedang dalam perjalanan memandu ke lokasi tersebut, saya menerima sebuah lagi panggilan yang mengatakan bahawa mayat arwah telah di bawa ke Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya (PPUM).

Saya terus bergegas kesana untuk melihat sendiri jasad arwah sebelum dikebumikan. Sayu dan hiba apabila melihat tubuh arwah terbujur layu.

Alhamdulillah, sebagai seorang sahabat, saya mempunyai kesempatan untuk bersama keluarga dan kawan-kawan arwah dalam upacara pengebumian beliau di Tanah Perkuburan Sungai Sikamat, Kajang! .

Mahasiswa dan gerakan reformasi

Saya mengenali arwah lebih kurang pada tahun 1998-1999 yang lalu sewaktu politik negara sedang bergolak dan gerakan reformasi masih lagi panas dengan demonstrasi mingguan di ibukota Kuala Lumpur.

Pada ketika itu sebahagian besar mahasiswa turut bangkit menyokong gerakan reformasi. Hishamuddin Rais yang dianggap sebagai ikon kebangkitan mahasiswa di era 1970an menjadi penyatu kepada mahasiswa dari berberapa IPTA dan IPTS yang dahagakan ilmu dan rujukan tentang gerakan mahasiswa.

Bangsar Utama (berhampiran dengan pejabat Hishamuddin Rais pada ketika itu) menjadi tempat kami berkumpul. Di situ jugalah tempat kami berdiskusi mengenai gerakan reformasi dan isu-isu semasa.

Akhirnya tertubuhlah Gerakan Mahasiswa Lantang Negara (GMLN) selepas pilihanraya umum 1999, tertubuhnya sebuah lagi organisasi yang dinamakan Universiti Bangsar Utama (UBU). Kedua-dua organisasi telah diharamkan oleh kerajaan Malaysia pada tahun 2001.

Disinilah buat pertama kalinya saya berkenalan dengan arwah. Sejak awal lagi arwah memang mahir dalam teknologi maklumat.

Pada ketika saya dan kawan-kawan masih lagi terkial-kial belajar untuk menggunakan internet, arwah Kharis sudahpun mahir untuk membuat laman sesawang.

Beliau dan berberapa teman lain bertanggungjawab membuat laman sesawang bagi GMLN dan UBU.

Pada tahun 1999, kami diundang untuk mengadakan persembahan teater di Johor Bharu dalam sebuah program di Johor Bharu.

Teater ini diarahkan oleh Hishamuddin Rais diawal sebelum dikembangkan menjadi teater Tok Ampoo yang menggelilingi negara pada sekitar 1999-2000.

Secara ringkasnya, teater ini berkisah mengenai seorang ketua kampung yang mengamalkan pemerintahan diktator. Ketua kampung yang dikenali dengan nama Tuan Se! nang Bes ar ini mahu semua orang kampung menurut apa saja arahannya tanpa soal.

Barang siapa yang cuba mempersoalkan tindakannya akan dikenakan tindakan yang keras dan ditangkap oleh pasukan keselamatan yang berdiri teguh dibelakang Tuan Senang Besar.

Kharislah yang memegang watak Tuan Senang Besar pada ketika itu. Memori indahnya melakonkan watak tersebut disimpan dan nama Tuan Senang Besar itu digunakan beliau untuk akaun Facebook dan Twitter sehinggalah akhir hayatnya.

Selepas zaman mahasiswa, persahabatan bersama arwah berterusan. Kami sering makan tengah hari bersama jika terdapat kelapangan. Untuk pengetahuan semua, arwah mempunyai pengetahuan yang baik mengenai restoran-restoran atau gerai-gerai yang menyediakan makanan yang enak dan lazat.

Memang benar kata Ismail Sabri, rakyat tidak boleh mengharapkan kerajaan semata-mata untuk melindungi hak mereka, tetapi perlu bijak menggunakan hak mereka agar peniaga tidak berani mengambil kesempatan menaikkan harga barangan sewenang-wenangnya.

Apakah pengguna di Malaysia bersedia atau sanggup menggunakan hak mereka? Adakah semudah tidak membeli, tidak makan atau tidak menonton jika harga yang ditawarkan mahal atau keterlaluan? Presiden Cuepacs, Omar Osman menyarankan supaya penjawat awam mengurangkan kekerapan ke pasar selain mencari alternatif yang lebih murah bagi membantah tindakan peniaga menaikkan harga barangan tanpa sebab munasabah. Ketika ini harga ayam melonjak disebabkan bekalan yang tidak normal. Kenapa bekalan menjadi masalah? Mungkin Kementerian Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani ada jawapannya. Tidak lama dulu kita pernah mendengar anak ayam dibakar atau dibuang kerana terlebih bekalan. Nampaknya ada masalah apabila bekalan berlebihan atau berkurangan. Semuanya serba salah.

Bagi pihak kerajaan pula, kita menghargai usaha kementerian mengambil pelbagai langkah bagi membantu rakyat mendapatkan harga berpatutan. Jika dulu ada Kedai Harga Patut kini ada Kedai Rakyat 1 Malaysia (KR1M). Walaupun jumlahnya belum begitu banyak tetapi pengenalan kedai ini sekurang-kurangnya dapat membantu pengguna di kawasan bandar yang begitu terasa dengan harga barangan keperluan harian mereka. Apa yang diharapkan, harga dan kualiti yang ditawarkan di- KR1M ini akan terus dipantau supaya matlamatnya tidak terjejas. Langkah ini juga dilakukan oleh beberapa pasar raya besar dengan membungkus sendiri barang-barang tertentu dengan harga yang lebih rendah berbanding barangan berjenama.

Baru-baru ini, satu lagi langkah diambil oleh Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri, Koperasi dan Kepenggunaan bagi membantu rakyat. Coop 1 Malaysia atau Coop1M melibatkan 500 koperasi seluruh negara menawarkan harga 24 jenis barang keperluan pada harga lebih rendah dan pada masa yang sama! kualiti nya juga setanding dengan produk berjenama. Khabarnya harga yang ditawarkan adalah 30 hingga 40 peratus lebih rendah daripada harga produk berjenama. Menjelang 2012 sebanyak 150 jenis barang termasuk barangan penjagaan diri akan dimasukkan dalam senarai Coop1M ini.

Apa yang diharapkan KR1M dan Coop1M ini dapat membantu rakyat yang mahu berjimat atau mengurangkan belanja harian. Tidak kurang juga pengguna yang tidak peduli dengan harga barangan apabila mereka keluar membeli-belah. Samalah juga apabila mereka berada di restoran atau kedai makan. Walaupun ada pilihan mendapat harga yang murah dan berpatutan, tetapi kebanyakannya "malas" untuk "berkira" dengan harga ini apabila memilih makanan.

Mereka sanggup bayar lebih untuk melayani selera makan.

Dalam hal ini juga, kerajaan memperkenalkan gerai makanan yang berpatutan. Menurut Ismail Sabri terdapat 1,050 gerai makanan Menu 1 Malaysia di seluruh negara. Jumlah ini melebihi sasaran 1,000 section sehingga akhir tahun ini. Malangnya ada juga pihak yang mempertikaikan kehadiran Menu 1 Malaysia ini yang menawarkan sarapan RM2 dan makan tengah hari RM4. Mereka sanggup mencari "silap" seolah-olah mahu memperkecilkan kedai seumpama ini.
