KUALA LUMPUR -- Minister of Energy, Green Technology as well as Water Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui doubts that a Selangor government will be means to take over a H2O services in a state from a concessionaires.
"I doubt this thing can happen," he pronounced referring to Selangor Chief Minister Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim's announcement upon February 6 that a state will take over a H2O services inside of fourteen days.
He pronounced a take-over can only occur with a capitulation of a Federal Government or a justice order.
Another probability is if a state has completed some negotiations (with a H2O concessionaires) which he does not know of, Chin said.
"I have no information. I do not see how he (Khalid) can physically take over (the H2O services)," he told reporters upon a sidelines of Tenaga Nasional Bhd's Chinese New Year celebrations here.
The H2O concessions in Selangor are held by 4 companies -- Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas), Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd, Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Sdn Bhd as well as Konsortium Abbas.
Syabas is 70 per cent owned by Puncak Niaga as well as thirty per cent owned by a state government via the subsidiaries.
