Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS) today arrested Faisal Mustaffa, Managing Director of eccentric book distributor Merpati Jingga in connection with Irshad Manji's Bahasa Melayu translation of Allah, Liberty & Love - Allah, Kebebasan dan Cinta.
Faisal who was today summoned for questioning, upon advice by his counsel Afiq M. Noor of Lawyers for Liberty had sensitive JAIS that he was sportive his right to overpower as supposing for underneath a law.
In reply JAIS sensitive Faisal that he was underneath detain underneath territory 215 of Enakmen Tatacara Jenayah Syariah (Negeri Selangor) 2003 for unwell to answer a questions of eremite officers. If convicted, he can be fined up to RM2,000 or a single year imprisonment or both. His counsel who was accompanying Faisal was also ejected from a talk for advising his client. Faisal was however expelled upon a same day after bail was obtained.
