Gov't gives green light to Da Ma Cai takeover

A consortium of Malaysian Chinese businessmen have got a green light to take over Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd, that runs a Da Ma Cai numbers betting outlet, with a government saying "it's a giveaway market".

"It is his (referring to aristocrat T Ananda Krishnan) company. It is a giveaway market. Willing buyer as well as peaceful seller," Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is additionally financial minister, said today.

Najib said after chairing a National Finance Council assembly in Putrajaya that although a Finance Ministry controlled a licence, a bid for a gaming company's resources was according giveaway marketplace principles.
